<p>Vegas Pro 12 is available in two configurations. The traditional <strong>Vegas Pro 12</strong> collection will include Vegas Pro 12, DVD Architect Pro 5.2 and Dolby Digital Professional Encoder for all your video, audio, and disc authoring needs. The more affordable <strong>Vegas Pro 12 Edit</strong> however comes with everything above except DVD Architect Pro. This is great if you need the editing power but don’t have any use for the DVD authoring software.</p>
<h3><strong>Key Features;</strong></h3>

<ul>
<li><strong>Project Interchange</strong>
<ul>
<li>This allows you to import and export a wide range of project files to and from Vegas Pro 12. You can convert between the native .veg file and AAF for Avid® ProTools® 10, XML for Apple® Final Cut Pro® 7, Final Cut Pro X (export only), DaVinci Resolve 8, and .prproj for Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS6 and After Effects® CS6.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Smart Proxy Workflow</strong>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>I’ve seen many people struggle with lag or choppiness during playback. With Smart Proxy Workflow, you can create high-performance, edit- friendly Smart Proxy clips in the Project Media view, to achieve faster playback. The media will automatically and dynamically switch from original to proxy based on the Preview playback settings. Original media files will be used for the final render.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>FX Masking</strong>
<ul>
<ul>
<li>Now you can mask and effect rather than the image itself. Perfect for quickly blurring or pixelating certain areas of video clips such as logos, license plates or a person’s face.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter  wp-image-5230" title="Shape Masking" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask.jpg" alt="" width="576" height="324" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask.jpg 960w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-235x132.jpg 235w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-192x108.jpg 192w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-384x216.jpg 384w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-364x205.jpg 364w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-728x410.jpg 728w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-561x316.jpg 561w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-758x426.jpg 758w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-608x342.jpg 608w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-85x48.jpg 85w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-171x96.jpg 171w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-313x176.jpg 313w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fxmask-600x338.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></p>
<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Shape Masking tools</strong>
<ul>
<li>Previous versions of Vegas Pro included the simple Bezier Masking Tool (Pen Tool) which is powerful and accurate but can sometimes be too much for simple masking. The new rectangle/square and oval/circle Masking Tools make it much easier to mask portions of the media by drawing the desired shape over the appropriate areas.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Layer Dimensionality Video FX and Compositor</strong>
<ul>
<li>Adding white text over video clips can sometimes be hard to read. With Layer Dimensionality, you can add the appearance of depth to graphics and video clips. Useful for elements with alpha transparency layers, you can add realistic shadows, glow, and embossing effects. Layer Dimensionality is also available as a Compositor plugin, making it useful in conjunction with Track Motion and picture-in-picture effects.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Vegas Pro Explorer Redesign</strong>
<ul>
<li>The updated Vegas Pro Explorer now features a Thumbnail View, and supports Windows libraries including My Songs, my Videos, and My Pictures. Auto-text fill and “Breadcrumb Control” similar to Window s Explorer lets you quickly navigate to previous directories in your system. Using Ctrl+ the mouse wheel scaled the thumbnail images for added image detail while browsing.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</ul>

<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Expanded Edit Mode</strong>
<ul>
<li>Double click at the edit point to see the timeline in a detailed “A-B Roll” view. The adjacent frames of the events at the edit point can be clearly viewed above the tracks for reference, and unused media in the events can be seen in the track area. The edit point/event edge is then highlighted in red and can be trimmed with the mouse or numeric keypad. Setting a Loop Region around the edit point enables you to dynamically add or remove frames from either side of the edit point while the media is playing, creating a highly precise editing experience.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</ul>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Other great new features;</strong></h3>
<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>64-bit Audio Plug-ins</strong> – Sound Forge 32-bit plug-ins are now compatible with the 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 12.</li>
<li><strong>CompregensiveS-log Workflow</strong> – Supports S-log via ACES color space standard.</li>
<li><strong>Project Media Tagging</strong> – Quickly categorize your media with customizable tags.</li>
<li><strong>Project Media Updates</strong> – Thumbnails in the timeline will display with letter boxes depending on the events aspect ratio.</li>
<li><strong>Color Match</strong> – Match colors between clips using L*a*b* color space.</li>
<li><strong>Panasonic P2 Support</strong> – Edit the DVCPRO 25/50/100 and AVC-Intra 50/100 MXF files natively.</li>
<li><strong>HDCAM SR (SStP) Mastering</strong> – Encode to all flavors of the HDCAM SR mastering format.</li>

</ul>
</ul>

<p><strong>Product Comparison: </strong><a href="http://j.mp/RAmTnW">http://j.mp/RAmTnW</a></p>
<p>If you’re serious about video editing on a professional level, consider giving Vegas Pro 12 a try. However, if you’re just looking to edit family video, or let’s say vacation footage you may not want to invest in something you won’t use very often, therefore you might want to go with the much more affordable, Movie Studio series. So, be sure to check out the product comparison as well!</p>

<p>Sony Software recently announced Vegas Pro 12 at IBC to be available this fall 2012. To be exact, that could be anywhere between September 22 – December 20th. With it, comes many new exciting features. One in particular is proxies. If you ever experienced any lag or choppiness during playback, the new Smart Proxy Workflow looks like it’ll come in handy.</p>
<p>Vegas Pro will be available in two configurations.

<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Shape Masking tools</strong>
<ul>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Layer Dimensionality Video FX and Compositor</strong>
<ul>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Vegas Pro Explorer Redesign</strong>
<ul>
</ul>

<ul>
<ul>
<ul>
<li><strong>Expanded Edit Mode</strong>
<ul>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</ul>
</ul>

<p style="text-align: left;">The other day while stepping on the scale, I first thought, wow what did the Holidays do to me!? After my brief moment, I then thought it would be cool to make a Digital Liquid Crystal Display like on the scale or gas pumps in Photoshop. A few days later, here I am writing this tutorial! Let&#8217;s begin!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/2012/photoshop-led-clock/"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3142" title="Click Here!" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LEDAd.jpg" alt="" width="614" height="102" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LEDAd.jpg 1280w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LEDAd-600x100.jpg 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LEDAd-300x49.jpg 300w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/LEDAd-1024x170.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></a></p>
<h1 style="text-align: left;">Video Tutorial:</h1>
<p><iframe title="Photoshop: Liquid Crystal Display" width="719" height="404" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kHHkFnnub_M?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<h1>Written Tutorial:</h1>
<p style="text-align: left;"> Open up Photoshop and create a new document. <strong>File &gt; New</strong>. We can name this, &#8220;<strong>LCD Display</strong>&#8220;. I set the size to <strong>800x300px</strong> for the width and height. With a <strong>White background</strong>, Click <strong>OK</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3115" title="New Document" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-00001.png" alt="" width="534" height="394" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-00001.png 534w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-00001-300x221.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">In our new document, grab the <strong>Rectangle Tool</strong>(<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3094" title="Rectangle Tool" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0011.png" alt="" width="28" height="21" />) and draw out a rectangle. Name it, &#8220;<strong>LCD BG</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-3084 alignnone" style="margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;" title="Draw Out Rectangle" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0001.png" alt="" width="345" height="134" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0001.png 821w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0001-600x234.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0001-300x116.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px" /><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3087" title="LCD BG Layer Name" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0004.png" alt="" width="223" height="338" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0004.png 223w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0004-197x300.png 197w" sizes="(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">You can <strong>CTRL</strong> or<strong> Command</strong> click to select the Background layer and with the <strong>Move tool</strong>(<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3096" title="Move Tool" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0013.png" alt="" width="29" height="28" />) selected center it Horizontally and Vertically by clicking the appropriate buttons on the toolbar.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3086" title="Alignment" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0003.png" alt="" width="216" height="31" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Now that we&#8217;re all centered, lets add some layer styles to the <strong>LCD BG layer</strong>. You can double-click the LCD BG layer to open up its layer styles or go to <strong>Layer &gt; Layer Style &gt; Gradient Overlay</strong>. We need to change the Gradient colors to the following, <strong>c0c8ad</strong>, and <strong>bcbfa1.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3088" title="Gradient Overlay" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0005.png" alt="" width="610" height="474" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0005.png 610w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0005-600x466.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0005-300x233.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3089" title="Gradient Colors" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0006.png" alt="" width="439" height="501" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0006.png 439w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0006-262x300.png 262w" sizes="(max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Lets also give it a stroke (not the medical term). <strong>Size: 6px</strong> and <strong>Position: Inside</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3090" title="Stroke" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0007.png" alt="" width="610" height="474" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0007.png 610w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0007-600x466.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0007-300x233.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you&#8217;d like, you can even add an <strong>Inner Shadow</strong> to this with any settings you prefer.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3091" title="Inner Shadow" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0008.png" alt="" width="610" height="474" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0008.png 610w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0008-600x466.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0008-300x233.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Alright we&#8217;re halfway done! We now need to create the LCD text. But before we do this, we need to download the font. I got my font from <a href="http://www.dafont.com/ds-digital.font" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dafont.com</a>. I&#8217;ll use the font called <a href="http://www.dafont.com/ds-digital.font" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">DS-Digital which you can get from here</a>. Click the links to learn how to install fonts for Windows and Mac.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3092" title="DS-Digital Font" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0009.png" alt="" width="520" height="413" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0009.png 520w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0009-300x238.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Select the <strong>Text Tool</strong>(<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3095" title="Text Tool" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0012.png" alt="" width="28" height="25" />) and choose the font you&#8217;ve just installed. I used a font size of <strong>190 pt</strong> and choose <strong>White</strong> for the color making sure it&#8217;s <strong>Right-Aligned</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0010.png" data-rel="lightbox-image-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3093" title="" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0010.png" alt="" width="582" height="24" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0010.png 727w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0010-600x25.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0010-300x12.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Click a little off the LCD BG layer to place the text so Photoshop doesn&#8217;t think we&#8217;re trying to type inside that layer. Type <strong>888.8</strong> and position it in the center of the LCD BG layer following the same methods we used to center the LCD BG layer.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3097" title="BG Text" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0014.png" alt="" width="573" height="224" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0014.png 819w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0014-600x234.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0014-300x117.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 573px) 100vw, 573px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Once centered, lets bring the opacity of the new text layer down to anywhere between <strong>10-15%</strong>. This is going to serve as the faded numbers you see in the background of LCD displays.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3101" title="Layer Opacity" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0018.png" alt="" width="223" height="338" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0018.png 223w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0018-197x300.png 197w" sizes="(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Duplicate the 888.8 text layer</strong> by clicking it and dragging it down to the new layer icon or hit <strong>Ctrl-J</strong>. Bring the opacity for that layer back up to <strong>100%</strong>. This will be our main numbers.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3098" title="Layer Copy" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0015.png" alt="" width="223" height="272" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Change the <strong>font color</strong> of the 888.8 copy layer to <strong>Black</strong>. We can also <strong>lock the original 888.8 layer</strong> so we don&#8217;t accidentally start typing on it. Go ahead and type in whatever number you&#8217;d like to display here now.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3100" title="Main Text Unaligned" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0017.png" alt="" width="568" height="218" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0017.png 812w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0017-600x231.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0017-300x115.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If the numbers don&#8217;t fit perfectly, you&#8217;ll need to create a new text layer for the particular number that doesn&#8217;t fit and position it to where it&#8217;ll fit in. I unlocked and brought the opacity up for the main 888.8 layer just to see how I could better align the number 1.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3099" style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-align: center;" title="Main Text" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0016.png" alt="" width="571" height="219" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0016.png 815w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0016-600x230.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0016-300x115.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Looking good! Lastly we can add some noise. <strong>Ctrl click the LCD BG thumb</strong> to <strong>select it</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3103" title="Main Text Aligned" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0019.png" alt="" width="571" height="221" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0019.png 815w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0019-600x233.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0019-300x116.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Create a new layer either by clicking the appropriate button(<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3106" title="New Layer" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0022.png" alt="" width="11" height="13" />) or by going to <strong>Layer &gt; New &gt; Layer</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Go to <strong>Edit &gt; Fill</strong> and fill it in with <strong>White</strong>. You can deselect it by hitting <strong>Ctrl</strong> or <strong>Cmd-D</strong> or by going to <strong>Select &gt; Deselect</strong> up in the menu.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3104" title="Fill" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0020.png" alt="" width="328" height="257" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0020.png 328w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0020-300x235.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Go to<strong> Filer &gt; Noise &gt; Add Noise</strong>. <strong>Amount:</strong> 95%, <strong>Distribution:</strong> Uniform, <strong>Monochromatic:</strong> Checked. <strong>Click OK.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3107" title="Noise" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0023.png" alt="" width="332" height="431" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0023.png 332w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0023-231x300.png 231w" sizes="(max-width: 332px) 100vw, 332px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Change the <strong>blend mode</strong> of this layer to, &#8220;<strong>Overlay</strong>&#8221; and bring the opacity down anywhere between <strong>10-15%</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3108" title="Noise Blend Mode" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0024.png" alt="" width="223" height="338" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0024.png 223w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0024-197x300.png 197w" sizes="(max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There you have it! A neat looking Digital LCD Display! Use your imagination and see how you can incorporate this in any of your future projects. An idea would be to make your calculator to say things such as your name.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3109" title="Final" src="http://robertsproductions.s3.amazonaws.com/v3/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/scale-0025.png" alt="" width="568" height="216" /></p>

<p>What better to celebrate New Years than a fireworks show! In today&#8217;s tutorial, I&#8217;ll show you how to create some abstract fireworks in Adobe After Effects for use in your video projects. You can even refer to my <a title="After Effects: Snow!" href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/2011/after-effects-snow/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AE Snow tutorial here</a> to save this pre-keyed for use in any of your preferred video editors. Heck, I&#8217;ll even include the project files which you can download below! Lets get started!</p>

<h3>WRITTEN TUTORIAL:</h3>
<p>Assuming you already have After Effects open, lets create a new Composition. <strong>Composition &gt; New Composition</strong> or <strong>Ctrl-N</strong>. In the Composition Settings, lets set the preset to <strong>HDTV 1080 29.97</strong>. This way our fireworks will be in 1920x1080px aspect ratio with a frame rate of 29.97. I&#8217;m going to make the <strong>duration</strong> <strong>5 seconds (0;00;05;00)</strong> but of course you use whatever you need for you particular project. <strong>Click OK</strong>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3017" title="Composition Settings" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0000.png" alt="" width="522" height="472" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0000.png 522w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0000-300x271.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px" /></p>
<p>With our new composition, lets create a new Solid. Go to <strong>Layer &gt; New &gt; Solid</strong>. In the Solid Settings dialogue window, lets click on <strong>Make Comp Size</strong> just to make sure it&#8217;s the same size as our composition. We can name it, &#8220;<strong>Fireworks</strong>&#8221; and <strong>Click OK</strong>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3018" title="Solid Settings" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0001.png" alt="" width="452" height="438" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0001.png 452w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0001-300x290.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px" /></p>
<p>In this method, we&#8217;ll be making the fireworks with one of After Effects&#8217; built in Effects &amp; Presets. So, with your Fireworks solid selected choose <strong>Effect &gt; Simulation &gt; CC Particle Systems II</strong>.</p>
<p>If you scrub through the timeline, you&#8217;ll see the particles showering down kind of like welding sparks. We&#8217;re going to need to adjust some settings to turn this into fireworks.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002.png" data-rel="lightbox-image-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-3019 aligncenter" title="" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002-1024x576.png" alt="" width="614" height="346" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002-600x338.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002-200x113.png 200w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002-300x168.png 300w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0002.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></a></p>
<p>Lets go ahead and dive right into the <strong>Physics</strong> settings for the CC Particle Systems II effect. Turn off the<strong> gravity</strong> somewhat, around <strong>0.2</strong> works here.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3020" title="Particle Settings: Gravity" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0003.png" alt="" width="358" height="387" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0003.png 358w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0003-277x300.png 277w" sizes="(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px" /></p>
<p>Now to add some <strong>Resistance</strong> to our fireworks, turn it up to <strong>10.0.</strong></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3040" title="Resistance Settings" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0017.png" alt="" width="363" height="413" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0017.png 363w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0017-263x300.png 263w" sizes="(max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px" /></p>
<p>Now if you scrub through, it&#8217;ll look more like fireworks but is non stop. We&#8217;re actually going to have to animate the <strong>Birth Rate</strong>. Make sure you&#8217;re positioned at the beginning of the timeline at <strong>0;00;00;00</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005.png" data-rel="lightbox-image-1" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3022" title="" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005-1024x194.png" alt="" width="614" height="116" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005-1024x194.png 1024w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005-600x114.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005-300x56.png 300w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0005.png 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></a></p>
<p>Click the <strong>stopwatch</strong> next to <strong>Birth Rate</strong> to turn on keyframes and activate the animation.</p>
<p>In this position, set the <strong>Birth Rate to 30.0 or 40.0</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3024" title="Birth Rate Keyframe" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0007.png" alt="" width="358" height="387" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0007.png 358w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0007-277x300.png 277w" sizes="(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px" /></p>
<p>Move up about<strong> 2 to 3 frames</strong> in your timeline and set the <strong>birth rate to 0.0.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3027" title="Birth Rate 0.0" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0010.png" alt="" width="358" height="387" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0010.png 358w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0010-277x300.png 277w" sizes="(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px" /></p>
<p>Scrub through and look at that! A Firework!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3030" title="Firework Preview" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0013.png" alt="" width="549" height="310" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0013.png 686w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0013-600x338.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0013-200x113.png 200w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0013-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px" /></p>
<p>Well, if you want the firework to be yellow, you&#8217;re done. If you want to change the color. Go to <strong>Particle</strong> in the settings and change the <strong>Birth Color</strong> and <strong>Death Color</strong> to whatever you want.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3031" title="Particle Colors" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0014.png" alt="" width="358" height="387" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0014.png 358w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0014-277x300.png 277w" sizes="(max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px" /></p>
<p>You can then duplicate the &#8220;Fireworks&#8221; layer (Ctrl-D), and change the color and position in the Producer as well as move it around in the sequence you want in the timeline.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018.png" data-rel="lightbox-image-2" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3041" title="" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018-1024x217.png" alt="" width="614" height="130" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018-1024x217.png 1024w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018-600x127.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018-300x63.png 300w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0018.png 1055w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019.png" data-rel="lightbox-image-3" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3042" title="" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019.png" alt="" width="549" height="310" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019.png 686w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019-600x338.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019-200x113.png 200w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/fireworks-0019-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px" /></a></p>
<p>Render it out and use it in your video! Again, if you want to render this out pre-keyed, I recommend watching near the end of <a title="After Effects: Snow!" href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/2011/after-effects-snow/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">this video here</a>.</p>
<p>Of course, if you have or ever used Trapcode Particular, you can get these to look pretty realistic! But since I love effects that can be done in AE alone, I thought I would share this.</p>

<h5 style="text-align: center;"><a title="Photoshop: Abstract Fireworks" href="https://www.robertsproductions.net/2011/photoshop-abstract-fireworks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Learn how to make the fireworks here!</a></h5>
<p>I can&#8217;t believe 2011 is already at its end and the beginning of 2012 is almost here. As with all new years, we usually celebrate with fireworks! So, in this tutorial, I&#8217;ll take a look at creating a bottle rocket for your projects. We&#8217;ll use both Illustrator and Photoshop but don&#8217;t worry if you don&#8217;t have Illustrator as this can be completely done in Photoshop CS5 with its 3D tools.</p>
<h2><strong>Written Tutorial:</strong></h2>
<h3>In Illustrator:</h3>
<p>To start off, we&#8217;ll create the rocket itself in Adobe Illustrator. If you don&#8217;t have any experience with Illustrator, no problem. This first method is extremely easy.</p>
<p>Create a New Document by going to <strong>File &gt; New</strong> and with all the default settings, click OK.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2932" title="Illustrator New Document" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-00001.png" alt="" width="610" height="329" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-00001.png 678w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-00001-600x324.png 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-00001-300x161.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p>Now in the tools pallet click the <strong>Pen Tool</strong> (<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2933" title="Pen Tool" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0001.jpg" alt="" width="26" height="22" />)</p>
<p>Draw half of the rocket as shown in the image below. Hold down <strong>Shift</strong> when making the straight lines. Holding shift will make the lines stay perfectly straight and not move around.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2934" title="Rocket Half" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0002.png" alt="" width="210" height="475" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0002.png 210w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0002-132x300.png 132w" sizes="(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px" /></p>
<p>Now click <strong>Effect &gt; 3D &gt; Revolve</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2935" title="3D Revolve" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0003.png" alt="" width="409" height="187" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0003.png 409w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0003-300x137.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px" /></p>
<p>In the 3D Revolve Options dialogue window, click the check box next to <strong>Preview</strong> so we can preview the effect.</p>
<p>Looking good, now lets give it a little Perspective, I&#8217;ve set mine at <strong>60 degrees</strong>. I&#8217;d even recommend using something like 80 degrees on your perspective. Especially when you thicken the rocket in the steps below.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-2936" title="Revolve Settings" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0004.jpg" alt="" width="597" height="364" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0004.jpg 746w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0004-600x366.jpg 600w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0004-300x182.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></p>
<p>That&#8217;s it, click OK.</p>
<p>Now if you want the rocket to be a little fatter, you can choose the <strong>Direct Selection Tool</strong> (<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2937" title="Direct Selection Tool" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0005.png" alt="" width="26" height="22" />). Select the two points for the bottom of the rocket and drag them to the left or right, holding <strong>shift</strong> to make sure everything stays in place. Click first then press Shift.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2938 alignnone" title="Adjust Size" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0006.png" alt="" width="276" height="449" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0006.png 276w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0006-184x300.png 184w" sizes="(max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px" /><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-2939 alignnone" title="Thick Rocket" src="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0007.png" alt="" width="299" height="459" srcset="https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0007.png 299w, https://www.robertsproductions.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/rocket-0007-195x300.png 195w" sizes="(max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px" /></p>
<p>Now you may notice, the rocket is now black! Select it and up at the top for the stroke color, Change it to Red or whatever color you&#8217;d like your rocket to be. Your rocket should now be the color you&#8217;ve chosen.</p>
