Sony Vegas: Insert Time

If you need to create space in between clips in Sony Vegas, you can do so by Inserting Time. Select where you want to insert the time and position the cursor. From the Insert menu, choose Time. In the Insert Time dialog box, enter the amount of time you want to insert and click OK.

To delete time, turn on Auto Ripple (Ctrl+L). Make sure All Tracks, Markers, and Regions is chosen from the down arrow next to the Auto Ripple button. Highlight the area of time you want to delete and press Delete on your keyboard. The time will be deleted and all your events should connect as intended.

Sony Vegas: Select a Range of Events

You can select a wide range of events easily in Sony Vegas, by using the Selection tool. Click and drag the mouse pointer at any corner of the area you want to select. Release the mouse button when the desired events are highlighted.

You can Add or Subtract events from the selection by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the event.

While making the selection with the Selection Tool, you can click the Right mouse button while holding the Left mouse button to switch between rectangular selection, time selection, and track selection.

Sony Vegas: Duplicate Tracks

You may come across a time where you want to make an exact copy of a track in Sony Vegas — including events, effects, and envelopes. To do this, Right-Click the track header and choose Duplicate Track from the shortcut menu.

Sony Vegas: Add Transition to Multiple Events

You may come across a time where you want to add a certain transition to multiple clips in your timeline. To add a transition to multiple clips at once, Select all the clips you’d like to apply a transition to. Find the transition in the Transitions Window and drag your chosen transition down to one of the selected clips. All the selected clips should now have the added transition.

How to Prevent PC from Sleeping During Use

Is your computer set to sleep, or go on standby after a certain amount of time? What if that time is something short like five minutes and you’re watching a ten minute YouTube video? If your monitor is set to sleep after five minutes, it’ll most likely turn off during that video. Then you have to move the mouse or hit a key to wake the screen. Even worse, your computer is set to sleep after five minutes of inactivity. It’s a nice power saver when you walk away but not when your using it.

This is where Zhorn Software’s Caffeine for Windows comes in. Like the Mac app, “Caffeine”, it’ll keep your PC awake when you want it to. It works by simulating a keypress once every 59 seconds. Your machine will think you’re still working at the keyboard and won’t activate the screensaver or go to sleep.

It’s just as easy to install as it is to use.

Simply download caffeine.zip from the Zhorn Software website.
Unzip the caffeine.zip folder
Double click the Caffeine icon, click Run.

That’s it! Its icon will appear in your taskbar already activated and running. Simply double click its icon to deactivate it when you step away. So when you’re at your desk watching that ten minute video everyone’s been talking about, you won’t have to worry about your screens going dark.

Why Caffeine? In my opinion, It’s a whole lot easier using this simple application than going through all your power settings, and turning off power saving options every time you want to use your computer without any botheration.
