Vegas Pro 12: Match Project Settings

Sony Vegas Pro 12 has made it easier for you to match your project video properties to a video clip. When first adding a video clip to the timeline, a prompt will appear asking if you’d like to match the project video settings to the media. You can also right-click a video clip in the Project Media window and choose Match Project Video Settings from the shortcut menu.

When matching a Vegas Project (.veg) file, Vegas will match the settings of the project file not the media within the project.

You can toggle the timeline prompt on or off by going to Options > Preferences, in the General Tab under “Prompt to adjust project settings to match first media added to timeline“.

Sony Vegas: Fade Type

When applying fades to video or audio in Sony Vegas, you may need to adjust the speed of the fade. To adjust the Fade Type, right-click the fade and under Fade Type adjust the curve of the fade. You can also right-click when hovering over the fade offset to bring up the Fade Type menu directly. Different types of curves will give different fade speeds so be sure to experiment with the different fade types.

Sony Vegas: Fine Tune Adjustments

You can make fine adjustments in Sony Vegas. When adjusting event/plug-in settings, hold Ctrl while moving the effect control. This will cause the mouse to move in fine increments.

Sony Vegas: Change Display Colors

In today’s tip, you’ll learn how to change display colors in Sony Vegas Pro 11. You may not always like a particular color being used for tracks in Vegas or you might even want a whole new color scheme overall. Vegas Pro gives you the options to adjust Track colors, Envelope colors, Snap colors as well as the intensity of the icons in the track header. I’ll cover how you can go about changing those to your specific needs.

Video Tutorial:

Adjusting colors is easy. Simply go to Options > Preferences.

In the Display Tab, you’ll find all the color adjustment settings. From here, you can go about changing Track colors, Envelope colors, Snap colors as well as the intensity of the icons in the track header.

For example, lets say I wanted to change the snap color of the Cursor. Right now, it’s Yellow.

Under the Snap Color options — Cursor, I’ll simply change that color to Red.

Now whenever I snap to the Cursor or Play Head, the color will be Red.

Go ahead, try it out yourself! If you need to change everything back to Default settings, simply click Default All. Default colors will return.
